Erfan Tahmasabi Biography

Erfan Tahmasbi (born on September 17, 1997 in Shushtar) is an Iranian songwriter, singer, and composer. He gained recognition by appearing in the “Asre Jadid” program and held his first concert in 2024.

He has been interested in music since childhood, but he never received formal academic education in the field of music.

In an interview with Deutsche Welle, he stated that he started acting in theater under the mentorship of his teacher, Majid Behdari, during his teenage years. Gradually, after a few years, he developed an interest in reciting Shahnameh.

In 2016, Erfan Tahmasbi innovated and performed a new style of Shahnameh recitation; by singing Ferdowsi’s poems with a pop music tone while simultaneously narrating the story, he attracted the attention of Dr. Ziaeddin Hajeri, a researcher, writer, and president of the Association of Persian Language Purification. For the first time, he used the term “Khenyahangameh khan” to address him. He believed that “Erfan is both a bard and a storyteller.”

A few years later, in 2020, his presence in the second season of the “Asre Jadid” program and his performance of the song “Golam Golam” brought him widespread recognition in Iranian society.

The special attention of prominent Iranian music critic Hooman Khalatbari to his performance style caused the music community to pay closer attention to his works.

After Tahmasbi achieved the title of runner-up in this program, he began his artistic activities with the Avaye Honar Cultural and Artistic Publishing Company.

Erfan Tahmasbi held his first concert in June 2024 at Espinas Palace in Tehran, which received positive reviews from critics and was met with great enthusiasm.
